An attractive opportunity has arisen for a full-time skilled Head Gardener within a beautiful Estate in Leicestershire.
The imposing period property encompasses four acres of gardens maintained to a very high standard and includes lawns, rose garden, kitchen garden, large greenhouses and ornamental lake.
The successful applicant will have sole responsibility for all aspects of the gardens and will work with and supervise a small team of part-time/seasonal assistants.
Suitable candidates must have a comprehensive knowledge and experience of lawn management, specialist pruning, roses, management of herbaceous borders, soft fruit and vegetable growing. They should be proficient in the use and basic maintenance of garden machinery.
The applicant must be physically fit, hard-working, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and willing to work outdoors in all seasons. Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive nature are essential qualities. They must also be flexible and willing to occasionally assist with other basic duties on the Estate.
PA1/6 spray certificates and a chain-saw qualification are desirable, although training can be provided if necessary. A full driving licence is essential for the role.
A competitive salary will be offered to the successful applicant together with a large 3-bedroom cottage on the Estate, provided rent and council tax-free. Highest references will be required.
