Head Gardener
Experienced Head Gardener required to oversee and manage the gardens and grounds at a beautiful Private Family Estate in South Devon totalling 200 acres. There are 9 acres of various formal gardens surrounding the main house some of which include; kitchen gardens, walled gardens, herbaceous borders, glass house and expertise in all of these areas is essential.
This is an exciting opportunity for a professional hands-on Head Gardener with scope to make significant improvements to mature gardens and grounds. The successful applicant must be self-motivated with the ability to manage and motivate themselves and staff to achieve the highest standards. Relevant horticultural qualification is required or equivalent experience.
The Head Gardener will be expected to report to the Estate Manager and interact with the Family on garden projects on a regular basis, so discretion and good communication skills are necessary. In addition to the main estate, the Head Gardener will also be responsible for overseeing the management of a garden at the Family Riverside Villa located 6 miles away.
On site accommodation, in newly renovated detached property with private garden, will be made available. The property is currently unfurnished, but this is something that can be provided if the candidate would prefer it to be furnished. Potential opportunity for part-time casual work for a partner depending on their skillset.
Working Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:30pm. Occasional weekend duty maybe required, with time returned in lieu.
