Whichford House

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Groundsperson to join the team at Whichford House. The property covers 70 acres, 7 of which are the gardens, the rest being agricultural fields.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the estate grounds to the highest standards, ensuring the beauty and functionality of the outdoor areas are upheld throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General maintenance of gardens, lawns, trees, and landscaped areas.
  • Cleaning and maintaining the pool area to ensure cleanliness and safety.
  • Clearing and maintaining the tennis court to a high standard.
  • Topiary cutting and maintaining hedges and shrubs with precision.
  • Hedge trimming and regular maintenance of all plant life.
  • Paddock and field maintenance, ensuring they are tidy and functional.
  • Tree trimming and managing tree health and safety across the estate.
  • Operation of machinery including lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, and other groundskeeping tools.
  • Ensure pathways and driveways are clear and well-maintained.
  • Minor repairs on estate infrastructure, such as fences and garden features.
  • Manage waste and recycling, including composting where applicable.
  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in groundskeeping or a similar role.
  • Ability to operate machinery such as mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and other relevant tools.
  • Experience with pool cleaning and tennis court maintenance is preferred.
  • Driving license is essential as the role involves driving across the estate.
  • Knowledge of plants, shrubs, trees, and their care.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to take instruction.
