Gardener
Two opportunities have become available on this beautiful estate based in the Stanmore area for a skilled gardener and gardener on a full time and permanent basis. The stunning grade II listed property is surrounded by 35 acres consisting of extensive lawns, formal gardens, surrounding forest, hedges and a vegetable garden, as well as two lakes, one swimming pool and one pond.
The new gardeners will work closely with and under the lead of a knowledgeable and experienced Head Gardener. Day to day responsibilities will include high level garden maintenance and any developments directed by the Head Gardener. The successful candidates work as part of a team and will be willing to learn and develop their skills to later work on their own initiative.
The skilled gardener will ideally hold a horticultural qualification e.g. RHS level 2 and ideally have at least 5 years of experience working in a large private garden. Chainsaw certification (CS30/31) though desirable is not essential, plus spray certificates (PA1/PA6) would be an advantage.
The gardener will either hold a horticultural qualification or have a minimum of two years’ experience working in gardening. He / She be someone who is a fast learner, proactive and capable to eventually work unsupervised to maintain the garden’s annual calendar and own daily work schedules effectively.
Candidates will ideally have tractor driving qualifications / experience and experience in operating a variety of garden machinery, and variety of gardening skills to contribute to the garden’s evolution. Applicants should be organised, physically fit and enjoy working in a small team. The gardeners should be prepared to work outside in all weathers, have the determination and drive to get the job done. Good communications skills and ability to work alongside other staff and contractors is important. A UK driving licence is essential for the role.
References and a DBS check will be required for the successful candidate prior to starting work.
