Gardener required

Work in beautiful historic Grade listed garden under RHS qualified Head Gardener
Small friendly team and welcoming interested owners
8 Acre garden including formal and informal lawns, herbaceous borders, rose garden, ornamental pond, woodland, walled kitchen garden and greenhouses.
Open to experienced/qualified horticulturists, or gardeners with experience and willingness and desire to learn.

Duties to be undertaken under the guidance of the Head Gardener:

• Border maintenance – weeding, pruning, dividing plants, mulching, planting.
• Lawn maintenance – mowing, scarifying, weed control
• Hedge cutting and topiary
• Strimming
• Vegetable, fruit and cut flower production, care and harvesting
• Woodland maintenance
• Pest and disease control

Ideal skills:

• Physically fit and able to work in all weathers
• Experienced in the use of a range of garden machinery, or the capability and willingness to learn
• Some plant and weed knowledge
• Comfortable working at heights and on ladders
• To be flexible, with a sense of humour, along with respect, willingness to learn, able to take initiative, attention to detail and work to a high standard
• Ability to communicate and work well with others and on own

Desirable additional skills:

• Horticulture qualification and/or experience
• PA1/6 spraying
• Chainsaw certification
• Machinery maintenance
• Propagation skills
• Vegetable, fruit and cut flower experience
• Sustainable practices
