Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Full-Time Gardener to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining our stunning walled garden, ensuring it thrives and supports the culinary vision of our cooking school. This role also includes overseeing the grounds to ensure they are impeccably maintained and visually appealing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and enhance our walled garden, focusing on produce that aligns with the cooking school’s seasonal menu.
- Develop and maintain greenhouses and propagate plants to support both gardens and culinary needs.
- Implement sustainable gardening practices to foster a productive and eco-friendly growing environment.
- Oversee the maintenance of the estate grounds, including lawns, flower beds, and pathways, ensuring they are well-kept and aesthetically pleasing.
- Collaborate with chef and cooking instructors to plant and harvest crops in accordance with the cooking school’s schedule.
- Assist with planning the annual planting calendar and crop rotation.
- Educate visitors and students about the garden’s produce and sustainable gardening techniques when appropriate.
- Maintain gardening equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working order.
Desired Requirements:
- Proven experience as a gardener, with hands-on experience in both ornamental and vegetable gardening.
- Knowledge of horticulture, garden design, and sustainable practices.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Physical stamina and a willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- A genuine passion for gardening and cooking is essential.
