Gardener
An opportunity has become available for an experienced gardener to work in private garden near Winchcombe (near Cheltenham), Gloucestershire. The garden is part of a wider estate and the garden itself is set in 9 acres comprising of formal lawns, a productive walled garden (growing a mixture of soft fruits and vegetables to supply the house), a greenhouse and woodlands.
The applicant will be part of a small team reporting into the Head Gardener. She/He must have a minimum of two years horticultural experience, the ability to work independently and to fastidious standards. Experience of working with machinery e.g mowers, hedgecutters and strimmers. Spray certificates in PA1 and PA6 are desirable. Full driving license, own transport and strong references are essential.
An RHS level 2, equivalent NVQ or a relevant degree is desirable but not essential, as is experience with demountable machinery e.g ride on mower, ATV’s and tractors. It would be good to have an understanding of organic, permaculture or wildlife gardening principles and some experience of working in a rural setting.
The position is a full time and permanent role. A competitive salary of up to £24,000 depending on experience is provided along with the standard holidays. Hours of work are Monday to Friday full time.
