An experienced gardener required for 10 acre garden of notable trees and shrubs due to retirement of the current gardener after 33 years.

A prestigious garden planted in the mid 1800’s contains many of the original Magnolias, Rhododendrons and Camelias along with a champion Taxodium distichum commanding a magnificent presence over two large ponds.
Horticultural qualifications or an equivalent depth of knowledge and experience is necessary most particularly in the field of pruning trees, shrubs and climbers.
You will be responsible for maintaining existing areas with the capacity to develop new projects.
A greenhouse and polytunnel provide tremendous scope for the propagation of plants and shrubs. There is also a vegetable garden with several fruit trees.
Lawn maintenance is important as is a good knowledge in the use and maintenance of relevant garden machinery.
A valid driving licence is essential, and chainsaw and spraying licences would be an advantage.
The family are in residence full-time and have a small close knit team of staff, two of which would help in the garden part-time, most particularly with the vegetable and herbaceous plants.
A three bedroom cottage is provided on site for the successful applicant.
