An exciting part time opportunity has arisen for a driven and hands-on gardener, 3 days a week for a beautiful garden situated near Hertford, Hertfordshire.
The house is an 18th century stable block with stunning views and the garden was created in 1957 out of the surrounding park. The 3 ½ acres of formal gardens and associated informal pleasure grounds surround the house are dominated by a wide variety of beds and borders including rose beds and mixed and herbaceous borders. The garden also includes a kitchen garden, greenhouse, lawns and an enclosed swimming pool area with climbing roses.
The role will be to oversee and be involved in all aspects of the garden. The successful applicant will focus on the specialist pruning, weeding, and maintaining the flowers beds and maintaining the garden to a high horticultural standard. He / She will be self-motivated, enjoy working to a high standard and have a keen eye for detail.
The ideal candidate will have excellent horticultural knowledge and ideally hold a recognised horticulture qualification. Excellent plant identification skills, experience with specialist pruning are essential. A spraying certificate (PA1/PA6) would be an advantage.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate senior gardener looking to take ownership of the gardens in a rewarding role.
SALARY: £21.50 per hour
