An exciting opportunity has arisen for two experienced gardeners to work on an exciting project restoring and creating a garden on a 20-acre estate as the maintenance of three other gardens owned by the employer in Buckinghamshire.
The successful candidates will be working under the direction of a head gardener working on all the gardens are in close proximity in the High Wycombe area. The gardens are at various stages of development and include a wide variety of horticultural features. The position offers the opportunity to be involved in a diverse range of horticultural work resulting in a varied and interesting role.
Your role will include working closely with the head gardener in the creative and planting decisions, It is therefore important that you have good horticultural knowledge and practical skills ideally backed up by an appropriate horticultural qualification and/or by proven experience within a similar role. General duties will include lawn maintenance and mowing, planting, pruning, weeding, care of trees and shrubs, plant propagation, the management and creation of a wild flower meadow, hedge cutting, large scale clearance work in preparation for the creation of the new garden. You should be familiar with the safe use and general maintenance of normal garden machinery and tools.
As well as experienced gardeners, our client is prepared to consider career changers with a passion for horticulture who are looking for a start in their horticultural career. All applicants must be willing to learn and develop their skills, be happy to work on their own or as part of the team. A high level of physical fitness and self-motivation is essential. A current driving licence is also essential.
Working hours will be 37.5hrs per week, Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm.
Holidays, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
SALARY: £26,000 – £30,000 DOE
