CGP Books

Estate Gardener required

As a key member of our growing Grounds team, you’ll be based at Eccle Riggs Hall, a historic 40-acre estate with extensive gardens on the edge of Broughton-in-Furness.

At CGP we obsess about high standards across the whole company – and our Lake District grounds and gardens are just as important as the Publishing side of our business.  As a key member of our growing Grounds team, you’ll be based at Eccle Riggs Hall, a historic 40-acre estate with extensive gardens on the edge of Broughton-in-Furness.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll join a team of 17 permanent gardeners / grounds specialists who work together to look after our woodlands, parklands and private gardens across multiple properties.  To be a real asset to the team, you’ll be willing to get stuck in and do whatever is necessary to ensure our grounds and gardens look lovely all year round.  This will include using ride-on mowers, chainsaws, sprayers and other grounds equipment safely — training will be provided.  Although not necessary, some plant knowledge will be a bonus to ensure our diverse gardens always look their best.

Who we’re looking for

The team’s No.1 priority is customer service so this will be top of your list.  You’ll take great pride in everything you do and really want to please.  You’ll also need to be:

Enthusiastic and disciplined in your approach

Reliable, positive and self-motivated

Flexible, helpful and approachable

An effective communicator

Given our location and the nature of the role, a driving licence is essential for this full-time role.

Interested?

To apply send us your CV (and details of your current salary) with a covering letter telling us why you’d love to join CGP’s Grounds team. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to Eccle Riggs in Broughton for assessment.
