Assistant Gardener required

A passionate gardener is required to join an established team and prestigious company, managing beautiful domestic and large estate gardens in Oxfordshire, on a permanent full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic gardener to take on a rewarding position with a respected company, where the focus on personal development and training is key to the company’s success and strong reputation.  The company does not take on commercial contracts but aims solely to attract and retain horticulturally focused private gardens on a long-term basis.  As such, employees get to know each of their loyal clients as a result of being involved in the development and care of their gardens through each season.

The company portfolio includes two large estate gardens, numerous manor house gardens and smaller private domestic properties, each of which require ongoing garden care to the highest standard. This successful business has flourished by listening to and understanding their clients’ wishes with respect to garden design, soft landscaping and year-round care via the adoption of the most current horticultural practices.

Applicants for the role will need to demonstrate a passion for horticulture combined with, ideally, an RHS level qualification or similar.  Suitable candidates will be presentable, positive in their outlook with a good sense of humour, excellent attention to detail and a strong desire to continually improve their knowledge and increase their skill set.  Applicants will preferably hold spray certificates (PA1/PA6), though this is not essential.  A full UK driving licence is essential, as is competence with a range of garden machinery.

There is always the opportunity for skilled and dedicated employees to climb the career ladder via the proven growth plan.  Hard work is always rewarded, and employee potential recognised.  The company has a policy and an excellent record of providing personal development plans and training programs.  A pension scheme and 29 days annual leave entitlement (including bank holidays) is offered.  In addition, visits to specialist nurseries, horticultural shows and regular social events are provided with a view to continuing the development of the team and company.
