Assistant Gardener to start ASAP
We are looking for a Gardener to join our small team of 3 based at a private family home in Maidstone working under the direction of the Head Gardener. The main part of the job will entail looking after a 3-acre garden which surrounds the family’s Queen Anne house, comprised of lawns, herbaceous borders, rose garden, themed borders, meadows, orchard. The job is full of variety from growing fruit and veg, establishing new borders, looking after chickens, small pond maintenance, topiary, to general garden maintenance of weeding, pruning, mowing, hedge cutting.
We are looking for someone who has a real get up and go attitude who wants to work in horticulture as a career, ideal candidates will be physically fit, enthusiastic and ready to tackle anything, have 2 years’ experience, RHS LVL2, PA1/PA6, experience in operating a variety of garden machinery and hold a full driving license.
Chainsaw CS30/31 would also be desirable.
The wider estate which consists of ancient woodland, parkland and a large meadow. There is additional land and properties within the area which from time to time need to be worked on also, which normally consists of garden clearance or tree removal.
Hours 40 hpw – Monday to Friday apart from a couple of weekends a year for NGS open days
Salary: Up to £25,000 depending on experience and qualifications
