Gardener / Groundsperson – Vacancy (Live-Out)

An Exciting opportunity has become available for a self-motivated and experienced Gardener / Groundsperson to work within a small team on a stunning 250 Acre private country estate located in Surrey.

This opportunity would suit an enthusiastic and friendly and well presented individual, with good communications skills and who is happy to work with the team or alone.

The Estate is set across three areas, the gardens surrounding the house, then the Parkland (both enclosed by a deer/rabbit fence), and beyond that, the wider estate. The Gardens were originally designed to be very formal but thanks to the current owners, are now given over to a more nature balanced environment. The gardens include three Greenhouses, a walled garden, a vegetable garden, various water features, lush lawns and flower filled borders.

The Parkland has a Pinetum, Rhododendrons, mature parkland trees and a 3 Acre lake. The wider estate has grass fields, woodlands and even an area of Heathland.

The Gardener / Groundsperson will work as part of a team of 5, reporting into the Head Gardener. Duties typically involve Border care, lawn mowing, hedge trimming, pruning of trees and shrubs and some Greenhouse work. Ride on mowers and compact tractors are used on the Parkland and estate, and chainsaws are used for woodland work.

A good knowledge of and experience around machinery being used is essential for safe working, so certificates and or experience are required. Training can be given where needed.

A full UK driving Licence is essential due to the rural location of the property and on offer,
references and a clear CRB check is required.

All staff adhere to a no smoking on site policy.

Salary: A competitive salary and discretionary bonuses

Working hours:  07:30 to 16:30 Monday to Friday, with one hour each day for breaks

Annual Leave: 23 days holiday plus Bank Holidays
