Experienced Gardener Sought For Two days a Week (possibly three in summer) in Buckinghamshire

A family in Amersham are looking for an experienced, talented, gardener to work with a respected garden designer to further develop 2 acres of beautiful formal and informal farmhouse gardens. There is an existing contract in place with a garden maintenance company who are responsible for mowing and hedge cutting (along with maintaining the boundary and mowing of a seven acre orchard), but the clients are seeking a passionate plants person to look after the beds and topiary, along with the rose garden and kitchen garden. The individual must have horticultural experience, and a keen eye for detail, along with a flexible, proactive approach and ability to work well in conjunction with others.

The garden includes a kitchen garden, glasshouse and rose garden, and daily duties will involve all aspects of horticulture and garden management, i.e. : planting, pruning, feeding, weeding and watering, dead heading, training, staking, applying pesticides, producing and harvesting crops/plants/cut flowers for use in the main house along with any tasks required basic plant healthcare, plant propagation/glasshouse work and a small amount of kitchen gardening.

Applicants must be experienced and well-rounded gardeners, with wide horticultural knowledge. Pet friendly is important as there are animals around. Candidates will ideally hold an academic horticultural qualification at Level 2 or above, though demonstrable and relevant experience will also be taken into account.  A strong knowledge of species-specific pruning and training, plant identification and seasonal garden management is required, as are solid references, and good communication skills.
